This is not very well-known but imp. to understand: from the 1950s onwards Zionism came to increasingly define itself in contrast to the ‘weak Jew’ who died in the Holocaust. Zionists erased Jewish resistance fighters to claim that only Israeli Jews are capable of defending Jews. The diaspora Jew became emasculated, weak, like sheep in contest with the strong militarised ‘Sabra’ Jew who can protect himself. It’s a form of Holocaust denial as it erases Jewish agency in WWII.
