He contacted the police, made a statement and submitted to questioning, by which time the original version of SW's story had been considered by the prosecutorial authorities as not indicating a crime.
He learned of the matter via the cops' illegal leaking of *their* version (not SW's original account) of events to the press.
And the police committed forgery by re-writing SW's statement w/out her participation.
