Oh, ok. I hadn't heard the term "sweeper" before, but from the name, that makes sense that it is just above the water. Yes, both nasty. Can't fight currents with such obstacles. Glad you, too, made it through your encounter. My recent canoeing has been on lakes-- so the water is safety static around any logs jammed in a narrow inlet. Still a challenge to pull the canoe up and over the logs, but not the danger.
