(2/3) Pouakai Range. Boardwalk for nearly all of 6.3km/ 2h to tarns; at ~1,230m elevation views to Nth Taranaki Bight (📷1). Pouakai Tarns | Ruahumoko (named for their protective kaitaki | gaurdian ancestor) where used by Māori tohunga | gifted for spiritual cleansing & scrying; when the breeze stilled, we also saw things in the water from our lunch spot (📷2&3)! Summit refused to be free of ☁️ (📷4).
