I don't know that poisoning attacks work great to address anything - responsible policy, for instance, would be far superior, but they do demonstrate that there is a cold war between AI companies and content creators and many actors want the other guy to stop doing what they are doing.
If that doesn't scream "hey, governments, it's policy time here!" I don't know what does.
