That separating the message from the messenger has its value.
I know I have more often than not took the shortcut of looking to see who is saying what to decide if I was going to spend any time considering what they were saying (based on the messenger’s reputation) nstead of actually considering what they were saying (the message).
I’m not suggesting that this isn’t often a reliable filtering mechanism, just that it isn’t always.
