An interesting observation is how Matrix made a fundamental design decision and then proceeded to completely ignore it for many of the other design choices.
For example, rooms are federated and home servers have little to no involvement in their management by design. Yet, a lot of moderation tooling references the home server as authority, as if it could do anything about it. Also, room names and aliases are scoped to servers too which is really confusing as well.
