I’ve been reading a lot of articles about the Biden presidency lately, and again struck by how badly US politics is hampered by the first-past-the-post voting system. In Australia the Labor party under Albanese has been a huge disappointment, and they lost my vote a long time ago. But preferential voting permits this. I vote Green as my first preference and when, inevitably, my preferred candidate doesn’t get up, my vote still counts, and goes to the Shit Lite Party instead of the Shit Party
