This hits the nail on the head. I am a female, and for so long, I didn’t understand how the church could promote a man as head of household (whether someone believes in the values of the church or that statement to be true or not is irrelevant to my point).

I had only been exposed to men who used that position to exploit his family for his own personal gain. It took me years of dating to find someone who finally understood that leading a family, being masculine in the truest sense, meant putting the families needs equally important to his own needs. Once I found that person, I understood. And I’m so very grateful for him. But there are so few men anymore who understand how to truly lead. What it means to hold the responsibility of family in his hands and to not take advantage of that power at the expense of the people he’s chosen for his life.

I, and a lot of the women I know, would rather stay single even when we want and crave companionship over accepting a partner who cannot lead a family from a selfless place.

Our society breeds this and it’s really unfortunate. I think it pits men and women against each other.
