There are lots of people who advocate reducing the population, and use that as their stated motivation for proposing genocide. In other words, I didn't bring those two things up because they occurred to me, but because I've had conversations with genocide apologists before. In your case, you preceded your proposal that our population should be half what it is with a declaration that "humanity is a swarm of locusts". That's the kind of language used by people who think lots of other people should die so they can live in a world they think will be nicer.

I, personally, see no problem with our population. Malthus was wrong, after all, as have the doomsayers since him. Are we harming our environment? Yes, but it's not because of our population, it's because of our behavior. If we can alter behavior to reduce the population, I'd rather do it to reduce our negative impact on the world we live in.
