Apparently you haven't studied anything about the crusades, or you studied some atheist/protestant version of history. All crusades were to Catholic/Christian countries that had been invaded by Muslims. (back then all Christians were Catholic, so Christian = Catholic). What were the Catholics in Europe supposed to do?
Bringing to an event closer to our time: what were the US/Canada/other countries supposed to do in WWII? Let Europe be dominated by the national socialists?
(The socialists did win in the end, but that's another story)
