This essay is astonishingly ignorant of political history and theory. Goldberg is "surprised" by Ahmari's arguments because she's apparently entirely unaware of the history of fascism. The positions Ahmari maps out just are fascism—or proto-fascism, depending on how one approaches definitions and intellectual history.
