If you listen to JCD's mic (and once you hear it you'll hate me forever) when his signal goes to zero, meaning he's done speaking, there is an audible click. There's some electronic valve slamming shut.

I know the phenomenon because I had a mic that was both USB and XLR. When used as USB, it did this.

I suspect his mic is USB.

It is not possible to ignore in SONY MDR-7506s.
