Safaricom to Train 10k Technicians in Digital Economy Drive: "This Will Create Employment"

Safaricom has launched The Connect Academy, a program that will provide industrial training for fiber optic technicians. The academy is part of the Presidential DigiTalent Programme, a public-private partnership initiative focusing on skill development, ICT innovations, training, certification, and on-the-job coaches. Safaricom's target is to train 10,000 fiber optic technicians over a period of five years, creating employment opportunities for Kenyan youth. The first cohort of 200 technicians is set to begin training in May. Safaricom has also announced internship vacancies for young graduates in its commercial, development, and technology departments.
