It’s ok to be a hardcore fundamentalist bitcoin maxi who calls everything else a shitcoin. It’s a safe path to take that ensures you and your community avoid getting rekt. And it ensures you make it through this chaotic noisy monetary renaissance securely.

It’s very similar to living a strictly principled and sheltered life without drugs, alcohol, dangerous adventures, controversial people, parties, etc. You’ll be safe, healthy, and probably happy. But you might feel a little bored and crave something more.

Extending beyond vanilla bitcoin into things like ordinals, collectibles, or even other blockchains is risky behavior. Many have ventured there with good intentions but got in too deep and lost their principles along the way. Some others are pure scammers. And the scammery and degeneracy certainly increases the further you stray from vanilla bitcoin.

In the same way there are many people with unhealthy relationships to parties, dangerous adventures, drugs/alcohol, etc. But there are also people who can partake in risky behavior in a healthy way, opening their minds to new experiences, developing deep friendships, building communities, and having fun times.

Finding that balance is all part of this human experience.

I respect the maxis who choose to keep it simple, even if the message is abrasive. They will keep you safe - though you might miss out on some fun. Or not, everyone has a different life.

I personally started getting a bit bored with vanilla bitcoin. “I like Bitcoin, buy my lightning channels” just wasn’t cutting it for me. I’ve also had a keen interest in digital art ever since i could code, and enjoyed pokemon cards growing up. I also wish I had minted some free crypto punks back in 2017.

I like ordinals, they’re fun. There are also some positive-sum opportunities for profit. And I hope we can enjoy the party in a healthy manner by keeping the focus on art, collectibles, and communities rather than false promises and wash-traded faux-unregistered securities.

If you look closely at the remnants of the recent NFT bust on altcoin chains, you’ll find the full range of pure scammery to pure artistic expression. I hope we can remove the former and preserve the latter as these people start migrating to bitcoin.

So anon, do you want to join the party? That’s something for only you to decide. There’s no wrong answer, and I respect your decision.
