1gb RAM should be ample unless your site is getting hundreds of thousands of hits per day.
My site runs on a 2gb VPS, but with a load of other stuff too, and I use about 50% of my ram.
My suggestion would be to switch to Cloudways. They look after all that for you and it isn’t much more expensive than a standard VPS.
