(Of course 241-Am is an alpha source, so that's both good and bad. As long as the casing is not opened or broken, no radiation will leak, but to check for a source you have to open it up. Fortunately alpha sources are not _that_ dangerous as long as you don't eat or inhale them, but still. Everything about this is scary indeed.
