I have a question: Suppose that there are parents that want to have their kid in an extracurricular activity outside of school. However, said activity requires a significant amount of financial commitment. The financial commitment has resulted in the parents having to ask for money to support the activity. The asking of money is disguised as a fund raiser that goes towards registration fees, uniforms, and activities for the kids.

What is your opinion about this?

I think that if these things cannot be afforded, you shouldn’t be asking others to pay for your kids activity. At least not in a deceptive way and calling it a fundraiser. If your times are hard, you can’t afford it, and need assistance then ask that way. I would be much more inclined to help an honest person.

I say all this because I believe that responsibility starts with parents leading by example. If you want something, you should work for it and be honest about where you stand. I also believe it’s the responsibility of the parents to pay for their child and if they can’t then either it can’t be done or the action of asking for money should be transparent about the situation.

Am I crazy for thinking this?

Ok, that was two questions.
