Figuring out how to level out the end grain on the bench top sides is…not fun.

I made cuts with a circular saw from the top and bottom and used a handsaw to cut out the middle.

I’m taking suggestions for good ways to deal with it. So far my hand planes are slow going. Sanding would take forever. Resaw? Chisel? Fire?
