#parkrun today as usual.

Picture this shirt, worn by a friend, disappearing in the distance in front of me.

This friend doesn't often run faster than I do. They exchanged a cheeky remark as they overtook me.

This friend grew up in Eastern Europe under communism; they had a terrible road accident in their 20s; they went under anaesthetic having signed papers saying that the doctors could amputate their leg if they needed to; they woke up and were told they would never run; walking maybe, not running.

I couldn't be happier to have this friend overtake me.

Parkrun isn't a run. It's a community.
