right, part of my calculation is that AI is not just a new shiny. Among other things, I think AIs could be useful tools in developing solutions for adapting to and stopping climate change.

Agree with you about carbon taxes though. One encouraging thing is how much the big compute centers have focused on developing carbon-neutral energy sources for their operations. How much of that is greenwashing and how much is real I don't know, but the folks who started that at Google seemed sincere about doing it right.
