The joy of "~/.config/foo.d/" (and the convention of "when 'foo' starts up, read all files in that directory and combine them to one configuration")

is that, to add/modify/remove individual pieces, a simple file operation does the job, *without* needing to parse anything else in the same directory.

Which is good for a program that wants to add/modify/remove snippets. Not great for a human who wants to comprehend the whole lot.
