I was given a 50s Grundig shortwave tube radio by a woman my mother knew, who was Czech, and survived being thrown into a Siberian prison camp and lived on eating only onions after having been raped multiple times by the Soviets. Sorry for the graphic description of the truth, but there it is. She hated the Soviets and escaped by leaving the Siberian prison gulag and walking back to Eastern Europe. She and her husband who also survived a prison camp came to the US and bought this Grundig radio so they would know in advance if the Soviets were ever coming to the US. I still have the tube radio. She left it to me.
