It’s objectively weird that we base our entire dating system around the birth year of a guy we don’t even have any evidence existed.
There are countless, literally innumerable, things that have dates we can determine with relative precision and that we can confirm actually happened that we could use as a starting point.
But no: the birth of the almost certainly fictional man who would become the first zombie is what we choose.
