A question: is there a device that somebody can interpose between a USB key and the computer that provides any sort of guarantees that you will be able to inspect the prospective contents of that device _without_ that device being able to act unilaterally in a way that do permanent damage or compromise to your software or OS? Let's assume this includes USBKill-type voltage-related chicanery but not something like "whoops, that's a whole-ass computer that just SMS'ed someone your GPS coords".
