however much you do for a CF patient, you will never return them to genetic viability (they are almost always sterile, I believe; definitely the males are)

so there are some questions about how much effort it is reasonable to make there, especially when funded by the public fisc; there are other, harder questions about how much help you should be giving their family, since by definition it is a genetic disease

now, it might be worth discussing treatments to ***get rid of*** the CF genes, so the offspring could have a normal life; now we're getting into "Gattaca" territory, tho
