While the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) is finally gaining support from funding agencies, China's SETI program has grown through local support and international collaborations. Several programs have used China's Five Hundred Meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST) to conduct targeted searches for signals from extraterrestrials. In 2023, the Far Neighbour Project directed FAST at nearby stars, exoplanets, and more to scan for signals.
