Sounds fair in both directions. I want the info, they want to feed me ads. Both sides can certainly refuse (and I for one won't drop my ad blocker for any information).
Obviously, that doesn't work for public entities on the web, who MUST provide their services and info without tracking or ads, in my opinion.
