It's maintenance day for the Katahdin hair sheep.

We took the flock to the handling system to check up on the ewes and weigh the lambs. Haven't added it all up yet but seems like the lambs will average somewhere between 30-35lb with the largest (one of the oldest) weighing in at over 40lb.

It was too far of a journey for the little bottle lamb we saved with a Bitcoin miner so I had to carry it. It weighs over 12lbs already! Pretty good considering it was born less than a month ago. Keep it up little lamby!

The sheep also got to come back to a fresh paddock after their check up. The grass is looking good with lots of diversity and legumes.

The lambs are starting to eat grass too now and the flock of 40 will most likely eat through this in 3 days. They have a few more paddocks in this pasture and then they will be moving on to the next. On pace for 45 days of rest.

Katahdin hair sheep thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

The last two paddocks have be good for 4 days which is unusual. All great news and best part is the other paddocks will get plenty of rest. The lambs are starting to eat grass and I can't wait to weigh them in to see how much they've grown. Next couple paddocks look good but soon they will reach very sparse pasture that I chose to skip in the April pass. The next paddock got 47 days of rest.
