I think there may be a few reasons why they are not very common.
Among them:

- They are not really Nostr Nostr. Only NIP-01 is real Nostr, while everything else is just sparkling event types. By definition, a Nostr client/relay is characterized by the fact that it communicates trough NIP-01. Everything else is optional.
- Nostr is seen largely as a Twitter-like social media solution and Twitter is used primarily for short texts.
- Precisely because they require more effort. Fewer people are going to be willing to write or read them.
- They are harder to support than standard notes.
- Alternatives for blogging exists, including and especially creating one's own website, as I have (https://www.functorfault.net/). One can then share the blog post on Nostr to receive comments. Why would one write a long post directly on Nostr?
