I like this idea.
Definitely consider both monthly and an annual fee.
It's a shame there isn't an easy way to geo locate a person at payment time which wouldn't get abused. You could then set rates per country/region so as to be inclusive globally.
After seeing the stellar work and effort you have put in since I've been here, I'll still pay to support and no have ads. I hope you can find a way to keep going.
