I love that about horror movies, no other genre can I think of exists where a shitload of sequels get made regardless of whether the creators wants them made or not. And the sequels are almost always worse. The only horror movies that held up with a bunch of sequels were directed by Wes Craven, and now that he's gone, it'll probably never happen again.
The newer Scream movies were good at least despite not being directed by him, so maybe I'm speaking too soon.
