One of the locations I visited today was Whitchurch and it’s beautiful bridge. I took a number of photos for a project I’m embarking on this year and into next, to photograph every Thames bridge, of which there are over 160. My aim is to capture a number of regular photos and some that stretch my and the viewers imaginations equally.
When photographing a bridge, what do you do, where do you position yourself and your camera? Do you photograph the bridge from a distance or do you go for some concepts that need to be taken on the bridge or from it.
I took a walk across it and whilst looking down, spotted this opportunity for an image, the contrasting late summer light actually helped in this instance, the light details of the buffers protecting the pillars that hold up the structure versus the dark waters of the River Thames, with the swirling weeds sketching out the flow of the water flowing through.
It’s just so fascinating and makes for an unusual image, very abstract. I shall share the more traditional photos I took tomorrow or when I get time later in the week.
