fun fact: the reason twitter tweets were originally 140 characters was because twitter could originally be operated by sending sms texts, which were limited to 160 characters. the limit was raised to 280 in 2018, the sms service was shut down in 2020, then in 2023 twitter notes were introduced which could be up to 2,500 characters
