NZ citizens need a privacy law that forces organisations to justify every piece of personal data they collect, and separately justify every piece of it they store, for any length of time. With serious penalties for collecting or storing personal data without a solid justification, and even more penalties for sharing it with any third-party, without explicit case-by-case approval from the person whose data it is.
