Corporations aren't a threat. For the moment anyway. If anything, they'd be looking for ways to monetize it.
Governments, like the CCP ordering Apple to remove Damus. That's the threat. When they realize that the network is independent from the apps, they'll probably try and disrupt the network.
The CCP doesn't like it's people having conversations they can't control.
