Current laws make hemp crops more of a gamble than they need to be.
Exceeding the threshold of THC makes the crop a waste of resources and unusable for seed, which is the primary value because of the protein and oil.
Short plants are more economical for adapting existing equipment to harvest the seed.
You can't grow the next crop from your own seeds unless you're a registered dealer.
Retting the stalks helps soften the fibres but short plants produce less viable fibres compared to historic varieties of the same species with much longer stems and more dense roots.
Modern, so-called, hemp is a compromise to maintain prohibition and leave room for investment, the same as the medicinal variety of the same species.
Ending prohibition is the first step in effectively using hemp for environmental protection including soil reparation and carbon sequestration.
Until the end of prohibition, #Cannabis will be divided into 3 categories, none of which are very environmentally conscious.
There is very little profit in caring for our planet, so there's very limited investment. Consumer behaviour is how we roll.
