San Francisco Centre Nordstrom closing this summer
This will feed into the doom spiral discussions, but it's important to see the full picture. So much of the sales of places like Nordstroms and Macy's - and Alexanders and so many of the other downtown stores - has shifted online that it is not that surprising.
And as in the past I encourage to think big, to imagine: what could go into the Nordstrom space? Laser tag? A La Cocina like food hall with local cooks? An unregulated space like the Bay Bridge in the William Gibson books?
(The latter seems unlikely but is my personal favorite.)
Good riddance to Nordstrom, I say, and to Salesforce and Uber and Schwab. Let's figure out new, better ways to fund our City, and a new, better San Francisco.
