That person that served you your chipotle burrito? They got to work using public transportation.
The job that you got? The position was only open because someone higher up was incentivized to retire due to social security kicking in, and everyone moved up the chain making a vacant position for you.
That customer buying a good or service from your small business? Their life was saved due to Medicaid. And they only have money to spend due to unemployment benefits.
Even if you never directly use the goods and services for which taxes pay, it does not mean that you aren’t indirectly benefiting from them. How would you go about quantifying the indirect benefits that we ALL get from public services, and how would you go about putting a price tag on that in an equitable way to taxpayers? How does the free market and privatized everything account for this without just making the world a worse place?
