Everything is asynchronous nowadays, since nodeJs became mainstream. It was then adopted everywhere, even when modern IDE like android studio launches a bunch of async processes when you open a project and you want to close the project you just opened, there's no way to stop the spawned processes until the last one completes and the IDE waits for that and you have to sit waiting for them to finalize. Quick solution? Kill the studio process in task manager and voila!
