Recent one that comes to mind is The Last of Us 1. I had to push myself to finish it since I was already around halfway through.
It felt like the worst aspects of cinematic game design mixed with a lack of creative design and interesting writing. Metal Gear Solid gets by on its creativity & unique writing for me, despite cinematic game design choices.
The Last of Us feels like it's for people that wanted a serious, grounded Resident Evil-like game and so it wasn't for me.
