Which is no different to sampling, except the possibilities are much greater. I don’t think these are really that type of technology, very possible it’s using some LLM type tech to analyse audio in the development stage, however the app is running locally on our machine and doesn’t appear to be doing I’d associate with LLM tech.

I’ve heard some examples people have made with the tech that makes music for you via prompts and it’s been super generic, essentially aggregated the most average of a sound so it sounds drier that the driest Nickleback song. I’ve no desire to use that tech.

I was chatting with a musician friend yesterday about this and more us, it’s the process that we love, not the outcome as such. Typing some commands doesn’t seem like an activity one can lose oneself in quite the same way as twiddling dials, twanging strings and making physical noises.

I expect the pop world to be entirely different though. It’ll be full steam ahead, especially now you don’t even need a real person out front to exploit and perform sex acts with fruit in music videos.

Longer term I don’t know what will happen to the job of an audio engineer or musician, I think it’ll be a more underground thing.

I probably have around 20 years left in which to earn a living. I’m doubling down, losing myself in my craft and we’ll see what happens…
