Casting is the last resort of metalwork and would never be practical for something thin walled like a casing.

Even copper/lead bullets aren’t cast in molds, that would be way to slow and castings need to be finished to remove texture artifacts from the mold.

Bullets are made relying on the malleability of copper and lead.. essentially a rod of a given diameter is forcefully pressed into a mold while solid rather than liquid, and cut off. The process is called “swageing” (pronounced like swedging)
