Do local governments that derive revenue from sales and property taxes benefit from inflation, or is it a wash since their operating costs are also affected?
Thinking they may see some benefit if most of their spending is done through multi-year contracts. Local government employees may get 'cost of living' pay raises but it's nowhere near (to borrow a term from the weather channel) the 'real feel' inflation rate.
