Rights are trampled on thousands of times per day without most people even realizing it and just expecting that because we have them, others shouldn't violate those rights. There are obvious violations, but also many not-so-obvious ones.
If "government" won't protect them (and indeed is the main violator), it is up to us to defend those rights.
