Just because public health says masks are no longer required doesn’t mean it’s not in your best interest to wear one.
Just because the pilot turned off the seat belt light doesn’t mean it’s not in your best interest to keep it on.
It is not uncommon for planes to hit unidentified patches of turbulence. It’s something that has happened since the start of flight. Every so often someone literally breaks a neck. It was maybe a decade ago seeing a story about a flight attendant being paralyzed from turbulence that I switched to leaving my belt on at all times except when needing to use the washroom.
