In general, the biggest problem with art is gatekeeping.
I used to think this was an institutional thing and that if we dismantled the institutions that enabled gatekeeping, the problem would be completely solved.
But every time an old institution is toppled, an even worse institution takes its place.
As it turns out, people love their hierarchies and canons.
