Reading The Bitcoin Standard is a good start or podcasts on introductions to bitcoin by Michael Saylor, Robert Breedlove, Saifedean Ammous, Guy Swan, Preston Pysh, Bitcoin University, Andreas Antonopoulos or The Bitcoin Podcast with Walker

If your response is that you have studied bitcoin, I would say, and I think most if not all bitcpiners would agree, trusting politicians is a clear sign that it hasn't been studied nearly enough. All that's needed is sincere care and curiosity.
