I think there's a huge difference in trending (WHICH ARE VENDOR SUGGESTIONS for crying outloud) and note censorship, and even more is the context around it.
Been getting tagged in a bunch of onyx things today. Amethyst was hard pressed on NOT fixing the issue at the time, and innocent people were getting swept up in a complete app ban due to a poorly implemented algorithm. The outrage was met with stubbornness and endless conversations about "not having time" to fix it. It's still implemented by default though there's now two checkboxes that an external contributor had to add.
Trending is literally opinionated because it has to be. It's by definition. You're not special if you think you've "figured it out" but you're surely special if you're going to sit there and get pissed at it.
Build your own client. Fork existing ones. Do something productive for yourself or the people you're claiming to help.
Lastly, I believe Primal is dedicated to solving all kinds of these problems and more. And are listening. That to me makes all the difference.
