The whole "English is 3 languages in a trenchcoat" joke doesn't work when you realize there are languages like Persian, Vietnamese, Ottoman Turkish (sadly not modern Turkish), Maltese and other beautiful languages that fit that description more.
Like wow English has lots of loanwords, neat. So does Japanese, and yet no one makes that joke about Japanese lol
